Testing Participant Engagement Guide
Technical accreditation for vendors and aggregators
FPS Accreditation testing is designed to allow Fintech software solution suppliers an opportunity to functionally test their software. This will ensure that it obeys the syntax rules of the real-time interface to the FPS Central Infrastructure. Accreditation testing covers the ISO 8583 messaging protocol used to reliably exchange FPS payments with other FPS participants via the FPS Central Infrastructure. The FPS Accreditation environment provides a simulation of the messaging interface presented by the real FPS Central Infrastructure and it allows a controlled testing of a software solution in a reproducible way. The overall scope of Accreditation testing allows the following aspects of the interface to be tested:
The FPS Accreditation testing simulator will allow all of the above to be tested on a simulated interface to a single Payment Service Provider (PSP), or in parallel to multiple PSP interfaces supported by the software solution running as though it is in an Aggregator installation. It allows a Fintech solution supplier to have confidence that their software obeys the functional rules of the FPS messaging protocol and provides an environment in which revised versions of their software may be regression tested to ensure that any changes have not adversely impacted this.

The FPS Accreditation environment provides a simulation of the messaging interface presented by the real FPS Central Infrastructure and it allows a controlled testing of a software solution in a reproducible way. The overall scope of Accreditation testing allows the following aspects of the interface to be tested:
- Message Authentication mechanisms;
- Working key exchange and renewal
- Validation of message authentication codes
- Correct usage of message syntax and protocol;
- Normal payment processing as well as failure conditions
- Correct usage logical Payment Priority Group logical connections
- Receipt of system status messages;
- Unsolicited messages (USMs)
- Administration messages
The FPS Accreditation testing simulator will allow all of the above to be tested on a simulated interface to a single Payment Service Provider (PSP), or in parallel to multiple PSP interfaces supported by the software solution running as though it is in an Aggregator installation. It allows a Fintech solution supplier to have confidence that their software obeys the functional rules of the FPS messaging protocol and provides an environment in which revised versions of their software may be regression tested to ensure that any changes have not adversely impacted this.
By providing Fintech solution suppliers with a facility in which they can reliably and reproducibly test their software, FPSL is able to provide a technical Accreditation of the tested version of the Fintech's software. This Accreditation provides PSPs, who wish to use this software, the confidence that it obeys the syntax rules of the interface to the FPS Central Infrastructure. This then provides them with the comfort that the software is ready to undergo Functional Certification testing, once they have successfully coupled it with their own systems.
Engagement Process Anyone wishing to achieve FPS accreditation should follow the process detailed in the Engagement Guide, and associated documentation referenced therein. Click here to download a copy of the Engagement Guide. |
