User Group Prize goes to a good cause in 2021!

As part of our annual User Group event, there is always a prize draw.  Over the years this has included a full-scale Lego Millenium Falcon set, FA Cup Semi-Final Tickets, an Amazon Echo and much, much more.

We also offer participants the option of donating their prize value to a charity.  And as luck would have it this year, the winner of our prize draw opted for exactly that.  The total value of £400 was donated by Ascert Limited to Team Nika. 

Team Nika is an initiative in South Africa that supports underfunded schools in underprivileged areas.  In 2021 they had a team of cyclists aiming to raise £2 500 by riding a 1000 km mountain bike race called The Munga.  This video shows you just how gruelling the race is and what the money is being used for. 

Now if you know anything about Rob Walker, our Managing Director here in the UK, you will know that he completed this ride in 2018 and even wrote a book about it – Mungral, a finishers tale.  So this is an event close to our hearts that supports many people in the communities that it rides through as well. 

And as a token of our gratitude, we also sent a signed copy of the book to the prize winner and received a heartfelt thank you from Team Nika as well. 

Nico Coetzee, managed to finish the ride and for good measure also rode another 1000 km to the start, so a massive 2,200 km later he finished this epic ride. 

So again, many thanks to the winner for donating his prize, this is going to make a huge difference in the lives of the kids.
